Theme: Navigating Shocks and Uncertainty: Development Challenges and Resilience in Asia
The Faculty of Economics, Chiang Mai University, is pleased to announce the Call for Papers for AED 2026, the 15th Annual International Conference on Asian Economic Development.
Recent years have witnessed increasing economic, health, environmental, and geopolitical shocks that have reshaped development trajectories across Asia and other developing regions. These challenges raise important questions regarding how households, communities, firms, and policymakers respond and adapt to uncertainty, and how resilience can be strengthened in the face of future disruptions.
AED 2026 aims to bring together researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to discuss emerging evidence and policy insights on development challenges and responses to shocks and uncertainty. The conference welcomes both theoretical and empirical contributions from a broad range of fields in economics and related disciplines.
Special TVSEP Session:
AED 2026 will feature a dedicated TVSEP Session for researchers using the Thailand-Vietnam Socio Economic Panel (TVSEP) data, as well as studies employing longitudinal household datasets and related research on household resilience, vulnerability, and rural development.
We particularly welcome studies utilizing TVSEP data to examine household adaptation, risk management, welfare dynamics, health outcomes, migration, agricultural transformation, financial inclusion, poverty dynamics, and long-term development outcomes. Researchers affiliated with TVSEP and scholars working on related topics are especially encouraged to submit their work.
