Call for Papers and Projects
The University for the Creative Arts and the University of Greenwich are working in partnership to host the first Extended Senses & Embodying Technology Symposium, chaired by Camille Baker and Ghislaine Boddington, and taking place September 8th-9th 2022 at the University of Greenwich. Selected artworks will be exhibited at the Stephen Lawrence Gallery September 7th-10th. The event will also feature a postgraduate student and early stage artist research workshop as an opportunity for those individuals to present their research and share work in progress in an informal and supportive setting. Proposals may be for a paper, artist talk, demonstration, panel discussion, performance, or installation artwork. We specifically encourage the submission of projects as collaborations between artists, academics, and creative industry professionals.
This cross-disciplinary symposium brings together research and practice which explore ways to extend and expand the body through new and emerging modalities. The event is comprised of a programme of presentations, discussion and exhibition investigating the intersection of technology and the arts, and the diverse landscape of specialities which emerge in the wake of this crossover. Focusing primarily on the body as a site of knowledge production within this field, it looks to immersion, haptic engagement and interfacing as key methodologies for understanding the bridge between the analogue and the digital.
The deadline for proposals for presentation and/or exhibition in the symposium is Monday, April 25th, 2022.
