The International conference on Mining, Materials and Petroleum Engineering in Thailand has been continuously organized since 1982. The conference is organized by three mining universities in Thailand: Prince of Songkla University, Chulalongkorn University, and Chiang Mai University affiliated with other partners from  academic universities in Asia and Europe and mining companies in Thailand.The International conference 14Th on Mining, Materials and Petroleum Engineering has changed to broaden academic topics called “The 14th International Conference on Geo-resources Engineering and Earth Sciences (GRES2024)” co-hosted with Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT). The conference aims to provide opportunities for all scholars to present various topics to promote “Sustainable and Innovation of Future Mines.” This coming conference will take place at the Convention hall, Mae Moh mine, Lampang, Thailand on May 30-31, 2024. Mae Moe mine is a well-known open pit coal mine in South-East Asia, not only the biggest open pit mine but also the best practice mine that achieves several Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) awards.

Themes of conferences

• Sustainable Mining and Mine Environment: surface an underground mine, drilling and blasting, Tunnelling, mining equipment selection and automation, mineral processing technologies, geology and mineralogy, ground water and mine drainage, mineral economics, slope stability, advance life cycle assessment in mining and relevant industries, Promotion of Circular economy in upstream production, Advance remote sensing and monitoring technology for reclamation and remediation in mine operation area
• Material Sciences and Engineering: nanomaterial, materials processing and materials designs, materials analysis and characterization, membrane technology, rubber and polymeric materials, construction materials, ceramic materials, composite materials, surface and coating, metallic materials, welding and joining. 
• AI for Georesources and Renewables: AI application to Mining Engineering, Characterization of petroleum reservoir or CO2 storage formation or hydrogen underground storage using AI, Forecasting or predicting relevant fluid production, injection, withdrawal, and flow, Optimization on relevant technologies for energy transition, such as energy griding and energy transportation, Machine Learning to analyze or classify on geo-mechanical and petrophysical properties, Forecasting the power generation based renewable energy sources and power plants using AI.
• Petroleum Engineering and Energy Transition: Petroleum Geology and Geoscience, Petroleum Exploration, Drilling and Well Completion, Petroleum Production, Reservoir Engineering and Characterization, Reservoir Simulation, Enhanced Hydrocarbon Recovery, Hydraulic Fracturing, Unconventional Petroleum Production, Carbon Dioxide Geological Storage, Underground Hydrogen Storage.
