Climate continues to alter, millions of people are facing livelihood challenges due to catastrophic events, health effects, malnutrition, food security and safety, migration, and related risks. Under these circumstances, besides feeding the sprawling global population, farming is requires with innovative technologies. Pakistan is the 5th most affected country by climate change. Sudden fluctuations in temperature, water scarcity, and flooding during monsoon are further worsening the agriculture sector including horticulture.
Among the existing agricultural enterprises, horticulture is more prone to biotic and abiotic stresses due to delicacy and higher perishability of horticultural crops. Being the rich source of minerals and vitamins, horticulture stakeholders offer an appropriate alternative through research and innovations for sustainable food production, improved nutrition, ensuring higher income and employment along with reduction in environmental pollution.
Keeping in view the current challenging scenario, Pakistan Society of Horticultural Science (PSHS) in collaboration with Department of Horticulture, MNS University of Agriculture, Multan (Pakistan) intends to organize “International Horticulture Conference 2023” (IHC 2023) for academia, research, practitioners, industry and progressive growers to foster national and international collaboration and along with scientific communications on different aspects of horticultural crop propagation, breeding, production, protection, postharvest, supply and value chain with the following theme:
