Logistics Research Network (LRN) Annual Conference, Technological University Dublin, 4- 6 September 2024
LRN 2024 Call for Papers
Supply Chain Innovation and Value Creation
The 28th Annual Conference of The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (UK) – CILT(UK), Logistics Research Network (LRN), will take place from 4-6 September 2024 at Technological University Dublin. Recent supply chain innovations focus on digital transformation, leveraging technologies like IoT, AI, and blockchain for real-time visibility and efficiency. E-commerce growth drives last-mile innovations, while robotics and automation streamline warehouse operations. Sustainability remains a priority, with eco-friendly practices and ethical sourcing gaining traction. Resilience and risk management strategies adapt to disruptions, and collaborative platforms enhance communication among supply chain partners. 3D printing aids localised production, and AI/ML optimise maintenance and inventory. AR and VR find applications in training and operations. These innovations collectively improve efficiency, reduce costs, enhance customer satisfaction, and address environmental concerns, contributing to overall value creation in supply chain management.
LRN 2024 will showcase leading-edge research into all facets of supply chain innovation and value creation. It will provide a platform for discussion and debate among researchers, practitioners and policy makers on emerging issues. We invite you to submit your work for presentation at this important event. Papers may either explicitly address a specific aspect of environmental, social or economic sustainability in logistics and supply chain management or focus on one or more of the many topics that contribute to our understanding of supply chain innovation and value creation. These topics include, but are not limited to:
- Supply Chain and Logistics Management – supply chain and logistics networks, reverse logistics, benchmarking logistics performance, supply chain capacity management, supply chain risk management, supply chain security and visibility, warehousing and inventory management, third and fourth-party logistics
- Value Chain Management - customer demand management, customer/supplier relationships, procurement and supplier development, lean and agile supply chains
- International Freight Transport – multimodal transport networks, port operations and management, process design, shipping and maritime operations, port-centric logistics, maritime policy and law, trade facilitation
- Technology, Digitalisation and AI - information technology deployment, AI, supply chain digitalisation, big data and data analytics in supply chains, forecasting and performance measurement, cyber security issues and solutions, knowledge and information management
- Operational Research - modelling and simulation, transport and logistics planning, urban/last mile logistics, supply network design, logistics network optimisation
- Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) - use of AR and VR for training, maintenance, and improving overall operational efficiency
- Sustainable Supply Chains – green and circular supply chains, sustainability initiatives, waste reduction, carbon emissions, alternative fuels, responsible procurement, ESG and SCM
- Resilience and Risk Management - enhanced focus on building resilient supply chains capable of adapting to disruptions, Implementation of risk management strategies, including scenario planning and diversified sourcing
- E-commerce and Omnichannel Solutions - growth in e-commerce, innovations in last-mile delivery and fulfillment centres, optimising of supply chains to support omnichannel strategies
- The People Dimension - leadership in logistics and supply chain management, logistics education and training, human resource issues in the supply chain
We particularly welcome interdisciplinary papers and those based on innovative methodological approaches. LRN has a strong focus on effective collaboration in research between academia and business. In this context, we invite submissions that focus on supply chain challenges and solutions in particular sectors (eg, life sciences, engineering, construction, retail) and/or that are based on research collaboration between academics and business partners. We are also keen to focus on work that has informed, or has the potential to inform, the development of public policy.
