“Law and/versus Technology: Trends for the New Decade”, eLaw Conference at Leiden University – Call for Abstracts:

Leiden University is delighted to announce a call for abstracts for our upcoming legal conference scheduled for June 20th and 21st, 2024. This prestigious event aims to gather both junior and senior scholars to present and discuss their research under the theme “Law and/versus Technology: Trends for the New Decade.” It's an excellent opportunity to explore the evolving intersections of law and technology as we move further into this new decade.
Scope and Topics of Interest:
We invite abstracts that address, but are not limited to, the following areas:
- Privacy and Data Protection
- Digital Vulnerability
- Platform Regulation
- AI Regulation
- Socio-legal Robotics
- Children’s Rights Online
- Gender-based Online Violence
- Online Speech
This list is not exhaustive, and we encourage submissions that explore other relevant areas within the overarching theme.
Abstract Submission and Deadlines:
- Abstracts should be between 500-700, briefly outlining the research question, the motivation, discussion, methodology, and preliminary or expected conclusions. In addition to the abstract, we expect a list of bibliographic sources relevant to the paper. The maximum length of your submission, including the bibliography, is 1000 words.
- The deadline for abstract submission is 10 March 2024.

- All submissions will undergo a rigorous review process.
- Notifications to authors will be given by 28 March 2024.
Conference Format:
Selected papers will be presented at the conference, with specific commentators providing insights and feedback. This format aims to foster in-depth discussions and enhance the academic value of the submitted work.
Publication Opportunity:
(optional for accepted authors)
Accepted authors can submit full papers for publication in a special issue of Computer Law & Security Review (ELSEVIER), subject to the journal's standard review and editorial processes. If the papers have already been submitted to other journals, they cannot be submitted to this Special Issue. The submissions will need to follow the style and requirements of the journal.
- The deadline for submitting full papers is June 7, 2024.
Award for Best Junior Paper:
In recognition of the outstanding contributions of junior scholars, the conference will feature an award for the best junior paper. This accolade aims to encourage and celebrate the innovative work of emerging scholars in the field.
