International Workshop on Mathematical Modeling and Scientific Computing: Focus on complex processes and systems (dedicated to the memory of Nikolai Botkin)
The 3rd International Workshop on Mathematical Modeling and Scientific Computing (MMSC) dedicated to the memory of Nikolai Botkin (22.03.1956-14.09.2019) will be held from October 8th to 10th, 2024, at the Technical University of Munich. Nikolai Botkin made a significant contribution to the creation and mathematical analysis of mathematical models, the development of numerical methods and algorithms for optimal control of ordinary and distributed systems, elasticity theory, hydrodynamics, thermodynamics, and homogenization theory. The first (November 19-20, 2020) and the second (October 4-7, 2022) workshops were organized by the Technical University of Munich. The proceedings of the first workshop have been published at CEUR Workshop Proceedings (http://ceur-ws.org/Vol-2783/) and the second one at Journal of Physics: Conference Series (https://iopscience.iop.org/issue/1742-6596/2514/1").
The objective of the event is to create an interdisciplinary workshop, which brings together international experts working on mathematical models from various fields. These fields include control theory, material science, medicine, and aerospace, to name a few. Despite the different applications of mathematical models, the underlying concepts related to the modeling of complex processes and systems share many common features. The same holds for the application of scientific computing methods for the numerical implementation of mathematical models. These methods nowadays constitute an integral part of the research task in applied fields. Topics such as parallel computing on high-performance computer systems and the use of shared memory architectures are vital e.g. for the solution of partial differential equations arising in various fields. Rapidly developing technologies like machine learning methods have become indispensable in data analysis. It is believed that bringing together experts from different fields will lead to new innovative ideas and create synergies between the scientific research topics.
Participation in the workshop is free of charge.
Submission Guidelines
Participants whose presentations are largely devoted to scientific computing are welcome to submit papers for conference proceedings in EPiC Series in Computing (not mandatory).
All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or workshop proceedings.
All workshop papers will be double peer-reviewed by two expert reviewers.
Submitted papers must be prepared in LaTeX using EasyChair style (please, see https://easychair.org/publications/for_authors). Figures are preferred in a vector format. The regular type of papers accepted for publication is full papers (at least 8 full pages). Please note that according to the requirements of the publisher, the size of the article PDF file should not exceed 2 MB.
