As global industries respond to evolving challenges, the demand for sustainable practices has emerged as a powerful force, shaping the future of sectors like Fashion, Lifestyle, Health, and Automobile on a macro scale. Simultaneously, access to technology has played an important role in expanding the scope for indigeneity and indigenous culture combined with craftsmanship in textiles, fashion design, accessories etc. on a macro level by enabling them to reach out to global audience and create a space for their indigenous creativity through personal expressions without any barriers such as colonial approach or nepotism. These changes have profoundly influenced lives and cultures worldwide, standing at the intersection of innovation, creativity, and economic growth. Their impact comes from the concept of responsibility that fosters positive contributions to address challenges related to economic, social and environmental challenges as sustainability challenges. The economics of business across industries encourages them to the push for fast and accessible products that often lead to unintended social and economic consequences like carbon emission, excessive use of natural resources such as water and violation of human rights. The current situation and dominant practices in the fashion industry call for a collective rethink of how companies can prioritize sustainability. Alongside industries, policy makers have been working to create regulatory framework which push industry towards transparency throughout the product life cycle. Technology has facilitated achievement of sustainability goals by gathering information starting from resourcing of raw materials, impact of production processes on the environment and marketing with sales strategies on social responsibility of companies through upcoming Digital Product Passport as a tracker of sustainable practices by the textile and fashion industry.
This conference is a call to action, inviting academic scholars to engage in redefining the current business models through innovation, technology, business partnerships, and cultural preservation strategies. While existing research has increased our understanding of sustainable practices, critical gaps remain, particularly in global collaboration, technological integration, and cultural preservation. We invite you to debate and explore to address these concerns by sharing insights to drive a more sustainable, responsible future.
