Background
The P2P Financial Systems Workshop (P2PFISY) is a cutting-edge international event that dates back to 2015 when it was kicked off at the Deutsche Bundesbank by Dr. Paolo Tasca. It is an international workshop bringing together industry leaders, regulators and scholars interested in Peer-to-Peer (P2P) and decentralised financial systems to share their experiences, research and policy analyses.
P2PFISY is widely regarded as the premier Workshop for future of finance discussions and is attended by top academics, central bankers and innovators. Over the years, it has been supported and hosted by prestigious institutions, including the Federal Reserve, the Deutsche Bundesbank, the Bank of Italy, the European Central Bank, the Bank of England, the Bank of Canada, De Nederlandsche Bank.
We invite you to submit your original research contributions to the 11th P2P Financial Systems International Workshop (P2PFISY 2025). This year’s workshop’s location and dates will be announced soon.
Selected contributions submitted to P2PFISY 2025 will be invited to publish an extended version in the prestigious journals such as Mathematical Finance (Editor Prof. Rama Cont, Oxford University). These submissions will be subject to review by the Editorial Board.
Workshop Objective and Themes
The workshop organisers invite authors, whether from academia, public institutions (including central banks), special interest groups, or the private sector, to submit policy-oriented, theoretical, and/or empirical papers. P2PFISY 2025 will emphasise the evolving landscape of Decentralised Digital Technologies and their implications.
These papers should be original contributions and clearly focused on decentralised emerging digital technologies, covering at least one of the following themes:
1. Stablecoins and Security Tokens
Economic implications, regulatory challenges, and global adoption trends.
2. Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs)
Design, deployment, and impact in emerging economies.
3. Tokenisation of Real-World Assets
Applications in real estate, financial instruments, and beyond.
4. Sustainable Finance and ESG Integration
Models, metrics, and tokenised solutions for sustainable development.
5. Consumer Protection in the Age of Generative AI
Risks, ethics, and regulatory approaches for AI in finance.
6. Financial Inclusion through Fintech
Case studies, business models, and technologies for underserved populations.
7. Fintech Regulation and Compliance
Governance frameworks for secure and scalable P2P systems.
8. Innovation in Digital Payments
Trends in mobile payments, e-wallets, and decentralised alternatives.
9. Digital Financial Education
Tools and strategies to enhance financial literacy in the Web3 era.
This year's workshop will provide a platform for regulators, academics, and practitioners to delve deeper into the accelerating shift towards digital and decentralised financial systems. The event aims to facilitate a comprehensive understanding of the ongoing transformation and to explore potential future developments, dynamics, and risks in order to foster a robust, integrated, and innovative financial landscape in Europe and around the world.
Researchers, academics, policymakers, industry leaders, and innovators are invited to submit abstracts for consideration. The deadline for submissions is 20th June 2025, with notifications of acceptance to be sent by 25th June 2025. Accepted authors will have the opportunity to present their work at the workshop either in-person or online, contributing to critical conversations shaping the future of digital finance.
To encourage diverse participation, Exponential Science is willing to offer financial support to the authors of selected abstracts wishing to attend the workshop in person. More information will be provided following the conclusion of the judging process.
Through engaging discussions, insightful presentations, and collaborative networking opportunities, participants will gain valuable insights into the latest trends, best practices, and emerging solutions in the field of decentralised finance and digital technologies.
Guidelines
Each submission should include an abstract, as well as the name and email address of a nominated author who will present the paper at the workshop. The abstracts of around 1,000 words (and preferably the completed papers) should be in English. Any mention of the authors’ names or affiliations should be removed from the submitted paper. Submitted papers will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee of the P2P Financial Systems workshop. Extended abstract/Papers should be submitted in PDF format through the EasyChair P2PFISY 2025 Call For Papers.
Selection process and workshop participation
The workshop’s Scientific Committee will blindly review all abstracts/papers submitted by the deadline in terms of their quality, their policy relevance and the potential level of interest, while ensuring an overall balance of topics, stakeholder interests and approaches. By submitting their papers, authors also agree to revise them based on the discussion at the conference and to allow them to be published on the conference website.
