We are excited to invite you to participate in the Privacy-Aware Robotics Workshop at ACM/IEEE InternationalConference on Human Robot Interaction (HRI) 2024 with an EXTENDED deadline:
Important Dates:
Submissions Due: February 9th AoE.
Notification of Acceptance: Feb 16thAoE.
Camera-ready deadline: March 1st, 2024, AoE.
In-person workshop: March 11th, 9am -1 pmAs social robots become more integrated and accepted in human spaces, they need to be trusted to handle information about people adequately, which means matching users’ real world privacy expectations and normative standards. We seek to bring together researchers who are interested in addressing one or more of the following questions/themes across different contexts:
•User: What are the dynamic privacy needs of users in everyday social environments? How do these interactions and the boundaries users draw inform the development of robotic applications?
•Engineer: What are the engineering limitations to privacy-aware robotics in information-rich environments and what are some potential solutions?
•Society: What are the broader legal and ethical privacy challenges for social robotics research and adoption, considering transparency, consent, and intervention?
We invite you to submit a short paper (3 to 4 four pages without counting references) or an extended abstract (1 page, without references) for participation* in our workshop by January 26th February, 9th, 2024 AoE (Anywhere on Earth). Papers can address these questions from many angles and can include proposals for future research questions or goals.
We encourage the use of ACM SIG format for paper submission, Templates, linked here: ACM SIG format (use “sigconf” as document class, instead of “manuscript, screen, review”) through these template files (US letter) or this Overleaf template. No blind submission is needed. All submitted papers and extended abstracts will undergo a thorough review process.
*Note that in order to participate in the workshop, at least one author needs to register for the HRI conference with (or only) workshop option and attend in person, however submission is not a requirement for in-person participation and we invite anyone who is interested in the subject to join us. All accepted papers will either present their work through a lightning talk or through a poster. We will aim to publish all accepted works together on our workshop website.
Submission Guidelines
The following paper categories are welcome:
- Short papers (3-4 pages, excluding references) for potential presentation at the workshop
- Extended Abstracts (1 page, excluding references) for a poster or participation at the workshop
