INVITATION
SAIMechE Western Cape, in association with our local engineering faculties is once again presenting their annual conference on Postgraduate Research in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials, Energy and Biomedical Engineering. The conference is aimed at providing an opportunity for our local postgraduate students to showcase their current research and interesting technological developments in topics related to the broad field of mechanical engineering. The event includes formal oral presentations as well as opportunities for exhibiting appropriate research achievements as posters.
SCOPE OF CONFERENCE
The Conference Organisers will accept papers that address the broad field of mechanical engineering and related disciplines. Recent research, research in progress and topics of current technological importance are invited.
General topics include:
- Biomedical Engineering
- Mechanical Design
- Computational Simulations and Models
- Solid and Fluid Mechanics
- Robotics and Control Systems
- Materials Design and Testing
- Advanced Manufacturing Processes
- Engine and Fuel Technology
- Energy and Renewable Energy
- Green Hydrogen Technology
The Conference is registered with ECSA – 1 CPD point.
SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS
All authors will be requested to upload an extended abstract in PDF format by using the link by 26 September 2025. Extended abstracts should be submitted for both oral presentations.
Brief for the extended abstract
- Please follow the format set out in the Extended Abstract Template.
- The first page should include the title of the presentation, the name/s, affiliation and address of the authors (this should include your postgraduate supervisor), underlined the name of the author to whom correspondence should be addressed.
- An extended abstract is a “mini-paper” and should have the following information: o Describe the aim of the work. o Provide a brief introduction sufficient to orientate the non-specialist reader. o A brief description of the methodology or experimental techniques employed. o A discussion of the results.
Notice of revision/acceptance will be sent to authors by 10 October 2025.The extended abstracts will be available to all delegates at the conference.

Registration is open from 01 September 2025 with final registration to be completed by 15 October 2025 (late registration applies after that date)
