Book Title: Modeling, Characterization, and Processing of Smart Materials (SCOPUS and WOS Indexed)
Publisher: IGI Global https://www.igi-global.com/
No Publication Charge
About Book: Smart materials are those materials which have multidirectional properties and can be changed in a controlled fashion by applying external field like temperature, pressure, stress, magnetic or electric fields and moisture or pH and examples of this behaviour defines responses to external stimuli by self-healing (in which material automatic self-repair to damage), self-sensing (allows automatic detection and quantification of external stimuli), self-diagnostic (allows automatic detection of defect), self-actuating (automatic actuation in response to external stimulus), and shape changing (in response to external stimuli material changes shape). Thus these materials provide a means of achieving ‘smart’ response in product and yield enhanced functionalities and capabilities that would otherwise be lacking. The main focus of smart materials are on different types of novel materials like Shape Memory Alloys (SMAs) such as Ni-Ti (Nickel-Titanium also known as Nitinol), hybrid composites, polymers, ceramics, chitosan-based gels, electroheological materials, magnetorheological fluids, sensors, nanotubes, metamaterials, quantum materials and various biomaterials etc. These smart materials highlights the multidisciplinary nature by representing how they can be utilized in different sectors like new product development, food industries, drug delivery, electronic sensors for satellite, health monitoring, biomimetic design and prosthesis, and robotics etc.
The book aims to introduce the concept of sustainability and smart materials to the scientific and technological communities concerning their development, processing, modifications, and applications. The book may also be used as a text or supplementary materials for PG courses and Ph.D. scholars working in the field of material developments engineering and for advanced smart materials viz smart polymers, biomaterials, solid-state, material science, ceramics, metals and alloys, etc.
Note: One electronic copy of your manuscript and published book will be provided to the main author of each chapter for free by IGI Global and each chapter will be provided with a different DOI and indexed in SCOPUS and WOS. There is no fee involved at any stage. The publication is free of cost.
