We would like to extend an invitation for you to submit a paper to the T4E Conference 2023, to be held in Mumbai (IIT Bombay) from November 24, 2023, to November 26th, 2023. The T4E Conference is a leading international forum for researchers, educators, and practitioners to share their experiences and insights on the latest developments and trends in technology 4 (four) education (Technology for, of, in, across education).
T4E – Technology for, of, in, across education
Technology for education: Development of tools to support learning, teaching and various aspects of education
Technology of education: Understanding the processes and conditions in which learning and teaching take place within technology-supported environments
Technology in education: Using technology to support learning and teaching in various contexts; pedagogical strategies for technology-enhanced learning
Technology across education: Using technology to enhance access to education across geographies, educational levels, and societies
Submission Guidelines
Papers can be submitted in the following formats:
- Research studies track either as Full papers or as Short papers
- Practitioner research track papers
- Industry research track papers
Accepted papers in any of these formats will appear in the IEEE Xplore conference proceedings. Papers submitted in any of these formats must report original research.
1. Research studies
Papers in this format contain original research studies addressing one of the themes of the conference. Research studies should contain:
- A clear theoretical basis, building on existing literature on the relevant topics
- A carefully designed study with appropriate use of research methods to support the investigation and stated results.
- A clear and complete description of methods and how they can be used to address the research problem and research questions
- An explication of the paper's impact on, and contribution to existing knowledge
To whom might this track be of interest?
- Researchers from academia (school as well as higher ed in different disciplines, including research students), industry, government organizations and NGOs/foundations. The research may have been conducted in a variety of contexts such as schools, colleges & universities, training settings, etc.
- Note: Papers submitted as research studies may involve a variety of research methods, including quantitative, qualitative or mixed methods and design-based research. The methods should be appropriate to support the claims made.
Research studies may be submitted as full-length or short papers.
- Full-length papers (6-8 pages) are expected to contain a detailed description of the background research, the relevant theoretical basis, details of the methodology, findings of the study, interpretation of the findings, and resulting implications for other researchers or practitioners.
- Short papers (3-4 pages) are expected to make a significant contribution but they may be missing one or more criteria of full papers. They may focus on small-scale research studies or may be extensions of the authors’ previously validated research.
2. Practitioner research track
Papers in this track focus on implementation and practice. They are experience reports that describe research-based implementations which have worked well, and are now recommended to others.
Practice oriented research papers should be submitted as 3-4 page papers. They should include the objectives, descriptions of the principles behind the design and development, details of implementation and an evaluation of the implementation, as well as what was learned from the experience and the recommendations for others.
To whom might this track be of interest?
- Instructors (school or college-level) who have designed, implemented and evaluated technology-supported practices are especially encouraged to submit their work to this track.
- This track may also be of interest to those working on teacher professional development and implementation of solutions, for example (but not limited to) work done by foundations.
3. Industry Research track
Papers in this track describe original industry research experiences, case studies, challenges, applications, as well as systems. These papers should present research and development of real-world solutions/systems that solve practical challenges in the field of education. It is expected that the papers in this track make substantial novel contributions along with at least two of the following dimensions:
- Understanding of practical challenges faced in the use of technology in education in technology-rich and/or technology-lean environments and potential ways to address these challenges deployment of systems in real-world situations and the impact of such deployments
- Societal, business, and/or technological insights generated by the deployment of ed-tech solutions in the real world
- Case studies that identify factors contributing to or hampering the effectiveness and efficiency of technology-in-education
- Application of known ed-tech solutions/concepts in a novel setting and their implications for these solutions.
Industry research paper submissions are limited to 3-4 pages in length. Papers will be peer-reviewed and will primarily be judged on the real-world validity of the setting, the broad applicability of the findings, and the overall scientific/practical impact.
Please note that papers marketing, advertising, or showcasing company products will be rejected.
HANDS-ON WORKSHOP PROPOSALS
Hands-on workshops can be proposed in a topic related to the conference themes. The workshops should be designed as active sessions on a focused issue that is of current interest to the community. Significant time in the workshop should be devoted to hands-on activities such as structured group work, collaborative design or editing, programming or data analysis activities. The exact workshop duration will be decided later, but they should be designed to range from 1½ - 2 hours.
Workshop proposers should use the template provided to submit their proposals. Workshop proposals will be evaluated based on relevance, anticipated interest, and quality, and subject to the availability of appropriate facilities. Abstracts of accepted workshops will appear in the proceedings published by EdTech Society.
BEST PRACTICES / TEACHING DEMOS
This track focuses on the implementation of innovative teaching strategies, or use of tools for teaching & learning in different contexts such as classroom, online & blended setting, learning of skills etc.
Submissions should be in the form of a 300-500 word abstract and must include the objective(s), description of the strategy or use of tools, details of how it was applied, and recommendations of how others can use it. Please submit practices or strategies that you have tried and used (ie not just an idea). Submissions will be reviewed based on the relevance and innovativeness. Abstracts of accepted submissions will appear in the proceedings published by EdTech Society.
To whom might this track be of interest?
We encourage submissions from (but not limited to)
- Teachers at school level
- Instructors at higher education levels in a variety of disciplines
- Trainers in organizations
- Pedagogy & technology advisors/consultants
- Implementation partners for educational solutions (such as those from NGOs)
TOOL / PRODUCT DEMO
This track focuses on demos related to interactive tools, new software, apps or technology-enhanced environments that is of potential use for learning, teaching or educational research.
Submissions should be in the form of a 300-500 word abstract and must include the objective(s), description of the tool/product and details of how it can be applied in learning, teaching or educational research. Submissions will be reviewed based on the innovativeness, relevance and the readiness of the tool / product. Abstracts of accepted submissions will appear in the proceedings published by EdTech Society.
