From its very inception the BIR conference focused on opening perspectives and stimulating new roadmapsfor Business Informatics, considering fundamental and applied research in bothtechnologies (e.g., Artificial Intelligence, data science, blockchain) and keyapplications areas (e.g., Industry 4.0, smart cities, e-government, FinTech ...) Current trends in business informatics research include the use of Big Data,Open Data, data spaces and analytics, the development of AI and machinelearning technologies, the application of cloud computing, and the explorationof blockchain technology.
