IHM '26 – XAI4U is a one-day workshop held during the 37th French-speaking Conference on Human-Computer Interaction (IHM’26), which will take place on October 20, 2026, in Lille, France.
XAI4U – Explainable AI for End Users aims to explore how explainability can effectively support end users, going beyond purely technical solutions. The workshop focuses on how explanations can be designed, adapted, and evaluated through the lenses of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), user experience (UX), and data visualization, to improve transparency, trust, and appropriation of AI systems.
We welcome interdisciplinary contributions from HCI, AI, ML, UX, and visualization communities, including empirical studies, methodological proposals, design explorations, and critical perspectives. Presentations (15/20 min + Q&A) may be in French or English.

Submission Guidelines
We welcome short presentations related to the theme of AI explainability for end users. This includes, for example, the visualization of AI-generated data, the design of understandable interfaces, consideration of cognitive biases, or any other issue related to transparency, trust, or user appropriation of intelligent systems.
Contributions on explanatory systems not directly related to AI may also be accepted if they help enrich the design of explanations in the context of XAI.
- research projects (ongoing or completed),
- tools, methods, or prototypes,
- conceptual or reflective work,
- design or UX explorations.
Interested participants are invited to submit a title and a short abstract (maximum 1 page, references included) by Friday, September 18, 2026. Submissions will be reviewed by the workshop organizers, and authors will be notified of acceptance by Friday, September 25, 2026.
