This study investigates the influence of loot boxes and randomized rewards on player spending habits and gaming experiences through a mixed-method approach. Quantitative data was collected through surveys from a diverse sample of gamers, while qualitative insights were gathered through in-depth interviews with avid players. The findings reveal that loot boxes and randomized rewards significantly affect player spending habits, with a subset of players exhibiting tendencies towards excessive spending in pursuit of desirable rewards. Furthermore, the study uncovers nuanced effects on gaming experiences, with some players reporting heightened excitement and engagement, while others express frustration and dissatisfaction with the randomness of rewards. These findings contribute to the ongoing discourse surrounding the ethical and psychological implications of loot boxes in gaming, providing valuable insights for industry stakeholders, policymakers, and researchers alike.
