Comparative Analysis of Specificity / Abstraction of Russian Words

Abstract

The  article presents the results of studying the perception of Russian words by parameters: specificity / abstractness. The purpose of the research: creation of a special dictionary where the degree of its abstractness is specified for each word. The research used semantic differentiation method, where respondents evaluated the degree of abstractness / specificity of the word on a scale from 1 to 5 in online mode. The sample of 154 respondents in the reseach was used. A 500-word analysis was made.The survey was conducted in English. The analysis of words allowed classifing them into three categories: abstract / specific / undifferentiated.
