Comparative study of action of H3PO4 on different biomass samples

This paper discusses the response of lignocelluloses constituent from different sources to dehydrating agent H3PO4. Being weak acid the phosphoric acid only etches the surface of lignocelluloses. Further the comparison is presented with help of BET curve. It is found that lignin and cellulose content has impact on activation of carbon. Also, extent of etching to the surface of lignocellulose changes with reference to the water content of lignocellulose.
