It investigates the diverse approaches employed in designing these systems, encompassing microfluidic channels, valves, pumps, and sensors that facilitate the manipulation and analysis of minute sample volumes. Furthermore, it delves into the integration of biological components, such as cells, proteins, and nucleic acids, within these platforms to enable a broad spectrum of diagnostic capabilities. Moreover, this paper discusses the diverse functionalities offered by bio-microfluidic systems, including rapid and sensitive detection of biomarkers, infectious agents, and genetic variations. The review also examines the challenges and future directions in the development and deployment of bio-microfluidic systems for point-of-care diagnostics. It explores ongoing research efforts aimed at enhancing sensitivity, specificity, and usability while addressing issues related to standardization, cost-effectiveness, and regulatory compliance.
